Virtual Dialogues - Amílcar Cabral at 100 Liberation and Legacy, 22 April 2026
16.00 CEST
Amílcar Cabral, a leading figure in the struggle against colonialism and an unavoidable intellectual force in the fight for independence in Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde and beyond, remains an influential reference for the study of contemporary Africa. As we celebrate his 100th anniversary, Cabral's legacy presents itself as a multifaceted tapestry encompassing strategic, relational, inspirational, and postcolonial dimensions, presenting ideological frameworks that served as powerful tools to challenge colonial rule, emphasising the fusion of national liberation with cultural resurgence far beyond the historical context of Guinea and Cape Verde. This webinar will discuss Cabral's work on the basis of a thematic edition focusing on his influential personality as a fundamental lens, exploring various analytical trajectories to clarify his role in the evolution of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde's sovereignty.
