Come together! EADI Member Forum at EADI CEsA conference, 12 July 2023, 17:00 to 19:30 UTC+1, Lisbon

Its goal is to offer

  • all members present at the conference (and those who are interested to join EADI) a forum for discussion and reflection on ongoing activities of the association.
  • the possibility for members to bring their own suggestions. We are especially keen on inputs from the young scholars.
  • the possibility to get to know the strategy of the incoming EADI President and Management Committee.
  • A friendly and informal space to network.

Registration

The event will be composed of a panel and a participative world café based on topics suggested by participants.

Therefore, we kindly ask you to register so that we know the number of participants beforehand. The online registration form also provides a space for you to share with us your thoughts, comments and inputs you wish to discuss at the world café. We look forward to learning about the top priorities you would like to see discussed.

Panel: EADI in times of crises and renewal – EADI strategy for the next three years

EADI is going to celebrate 50 years of existence in 2025, and the world is facing multiple crises. Also development studies as such needs to find renewed solutions for persistent challenges. Challenges within traditional development issues (i.e. ending poverty worldwide), but also within the research process (knowledge co-creation, transdisciplinarity).

  • What should EADI as association of researchers strategically do to bring together voices from around the world?
  • How should EADI deal with multiple ways of knowing? What mechanism should be implemented?
  • How can we shift thinking about joint knowledge co-creation towards real solidarity?

Discussants:

    • Karina Batthyany, CLACSO
    • Sebeka Plaatje, South African Development Studies Association (SADSA)
    • Arief Yusuf, President of Indonesian Regional Science Association
  • Questions from the audience
