The ELTE Centre for Economic and Regional Studies is a research centre of Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. It consists of three institutes, the Institute of Economics, the Institute for Regional Studies and the Institute of World Economics and understands itself as an independent research community committed to scholarly autonomy and to strict ethical standards in research.
The centre's research covers economic theory and applied economics, labour marktets, agricultural and industrial economics, regional and urban development and the world economy with a strong focus on Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe in a European and global context. Its aim is to explain economic, social and spatial processes through up-to-date scientific analysis and to make those findings usable for policy decisions.
