Global development thinking in times of climate change relates to shifts in patterns of production but also to shifts in modes of living and ways of being more generally, which invites to take a renewed look the value of knowledges that propose alternative ways of living in/with nature.

The current global poly-crisis reflects shifts and movements playing out at spatial and time scales that surpass everyday human experience, which explains why the academic reports and projections on the crisis, notwithstanding their accuracy and academic quality, harvest political pushback rather than adequate policy response. Hope is what can help us to break out of this paralysis, stimulate us to think out of the box and eventually allow us realizing an alternative future. Hope is therefore an essential ingredient of the process of transformation itself. What are the grounds for hope in today’s world?
