SP05 - Localized innovations for sustainable futures
Convened by Peter Knorringa, International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Cees van Beers, Delft University of Technology
Innovations offer an important potential avenue towards achieving sustainable futures. In this panel we invite contributions on localized innovations from developing contexts with a focus on being relevant for relatively poorer and marginalized communities. Such innovations go by a variety of labels in the literature, like grassroot, inclusive, frugal, or resource-constrained innovations. Rather than focusing on the conceptual differences between these strands in the literature, this panel aims to identify the broader contributions of such innovations to sustainable futures. Also more critical contributions on 'innovation speak' are very much welcomed.
This panel is organised by the EADI Working Group on "Frugal Innovation and Development"
