HP01 - New Directions in Agrarian Political Economy: Social Reproduction, Racial Capitalism and Gender in the ‘Digital’ and 'Urban' South
The panel will present work by ECRs that centre race and gender in theorising how policies and process of digitisation, urbanisation and financialization are (re)shaping dispossession, production/reproduction and labour regimes, survival, and migration in agrarian South. By focusing on gender, social reproduction and race the papers should aim to open new avenues pathways in studying agrarian questions of (1) who owns what (land, capital, labour); (2) who does what (social reproduction)?; who gets what; what do they do with it? We are especially interests in papers that focus on countries in Africa or South Asia.
The panel will consist of 4/5 papers, and we hope to draw the papers into a special issue
This panel is organised by the EADI Working Group on "Political Economy and Political Ecology of Land, Labour and Food"
