Successful accreditation of the “Master in Global Development Studies” at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås
We are delighted to announce the successful accreditation of the "Master in Global Development Studies” at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) in Ås, near Oslo, Norway. The International Accreditation Council for Global Development Studies and Research IAC/EADI wishes to congratulate NMBU on the excellent quality of the programme with its distinctive and dynamic features.
The master’s programme in Global Development Studies (M-GDS) is offered by the Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric), located at the Faculty of Landscape and Society (Landsam). Noragric was originally founded in 1986 as a centre of development research and education funded by Norad, before it in 2005 became the department it is today. The department cooperates intensively with institutions in Africa, Asia and Southeast Europe which is one of the strengths of the programme.
The program focuses on global social, political and economic change. The degree provides a critical understanding of the history and current dynamics of globalization, and its impact on societies and environments. The degree is organized as a full-time program over a 2-year period with 120 study points. All teaching is in English
The IAC / EADI Council congratulated Noragric on its distinctive programme, and made a number of recommendations according to the IAC / EADI criteria towards the programme, and for developing the programme’s potential to further improve its position.
