EADI is delighted to announce the successful accreditation of the “Master Degree Programme Management of Development", offered by the Hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein (VHL), University of Applied Sciences, in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. IAC/EADI wishes to congratulate Van Hall Larenstein on the excellent quality of the programme with its distinctive and dynamic features.

The Master in Management of Development is a fulltime one-year degree programme (60 EC) that started in 2001. Since then, more than 400 students have graduated. It originated from tropical agricultural programmes, is developed towards rural development and livelihoods and is currently shifted to include a more urban focus as reaction to urbanisation as result of for example population growth, technical advances or disasters.

The Master is designed for rural development professionals in middle and higher management positions to become facilitators of change for the livelihoods of rural population and make livelihoods more sustainable in rapid changing environments. The Master in Management of Development offers three specialisations:

  • Disaster Risk Management
  • Food and Nutrition Security
  • Social Inclusion, Gender and Youth (RDG)

The IAC / EADI Council congratulated the VHL on its distinctive programme, and made a number of recommendations according the IAC / EADI criteria towards the programme, and for developing the programme’s potential to further improve its position.
