The European Journal of Development Research is advertising for a new co-editor with expertise in the qualitative methodologies within international development research, including their use within mixed methods research designs, and impact evaluation (broadly defined) to join our thriving editorial team.

The European Journal of Development Research is an ISI-rated journal and is part of the European Association of Development and Training Institutes (EADI).

Person Specification: 

EJDR is looking for a research-active scholar based in the global North or South with experience of publishing, editing and reviewing for high-ranking journals. To complement our existing editorial team, we require applicants to be bilingual in French and English. EJDR is specifically interested in applicants with expertise in the use of qualitative and mixed methods in international development research, as well as experience in impact evaluation; preferably, an anthropologist, sociologist, geographer or similar within the field of development studies.

We would expect a strong level of understanding and knowledge in three or more of the following areas:

• methodology

• social theory

• children and young people

• gender

• livelihoods

• critical approaches to development

Editor role: 

The editor will join an active editorial team, amongst which management of the paper review process is shared to ensure that each editor manages papers within his or her own areas of expertise. The editor is required to manage the blind peer review process of manuscripts under their care in a timely manner, liaising with reviewers and authors, and providing additional in-depth comments where necessary. The editor will receive financial support to promote the journal at relevant international conferences, and to attend an annual Editorial team meeting.
