Broaden your horizon this summer: the Summer Institute on Governance & Inclusive Development - an intensive two-weeks post-graduate course in cooperation with the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) will take place on 14-27 June 2015 in Amsterdam.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions for all participants from Monday to Friday. The morning classes are meant to deal with theories and the afternoon classes are research workshops.
The programme offers two excursions:

  • one excursion to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague to the Department of Sustainable Economic Development with a Presentation on the Practice of Policymaking
  • and one excursion to UTZ-Certified in Amsterdam. UTZ Certified stands for sustainable farming and better opportunities for farmers, their families and our planet.

Classes are taught by

  • Dr Nicky Pouw, development economist and co- author of Local Governance and Poverty in Developing Nations (with Isa Baud)
  • Dr Fred Zaal, a geographer with more than 25 years of experience in rural development research and advisory work in Africa and co author of Economic Spaces of Pastoral Production and Commodity Systems
  • and Dr Anna Laven, co author of Faire changer les chaînes.

Tuition: € 1350 includes lunches on class days, access to course materials on Blackboard, certificate of attendance, all excursions.
