The European Journal of Development Research is seeking a new co-editor with expertise in the political economy of development (broadly defined) to join its thriving editorial team. Deadline for applications: 31st January 2015

The European Journal of Development Research is an Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)-rated journal. IDS Professorial Fellow, Spencer Henson, is Editor-in-Chief of the journal, which is managed by the European Association of Development Institutes (EADI).

Co-editor role

The co-editor will join an active team of editors, amongst which management of the paper review process is shared to ensure that editors manage papers within their expertise. The successful applicant will receive financial support to promote the journal at relevant international conferences.

Person Specification

The editorial team are looking for a research-active scholar with experience of publishing and reviewing for high-ranking journals.

They are specifically interested someone with expertise in the political economy of development, which could include one or more of the following areas:

  • The political economy of international development institutions and associated policy frameworks
  • Governance and development, for example  processes of accountability, democratisation, impacts of corruption and rent-seeking, capacity building
  • Global governance in development, for example. complex relationships between national governments, international institutions and global economy
  • The role of aid, trade and other financial systems in global, regional and national development
  • The role of the state in development success and failure, particularly in the context of state fragility, and the political economy of reform.

Applicants from the global South, and/or who can review in Spanish or French, are particularly welcome, although these are not part of the formal requirements.
