Following the success of its 2019 edition, we are pleased to announce our 2020 Academic Coordinators Workshop. The workshop will take place online on 19-20 November.

Focusing on ‘Building Development Studies Programmes for the Future’, this workshop will feature speakers from several European universities and provide insights into the design and running of study programs in International Development. In addition to presentations by speakers, thematic chat sessions will be organised for all participants to interact on topics related to academic coordination of study programmes, and foster exchange and collaboration across institutions.

Thursday 19 November 2020 - Presentations and Discussion

10:00 – 10:30:   Introduction

10:30 – 11:30:   Joost Moenks, Secretary of the International Accreditation Council for Global Development Studies (IAC), “Recent Trends in Development Studies & IAC/EADI accreditation framework” – presentation and discussion.

11:30 – 11:45: Susanne von Itter, Executive Secretary for EADI, presenting EADI’s Global Development series “Building Development Studies for the New Millennium”.

14:00 – 14:45:   Courtney L. Vegelin, Programme Director MSc International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam – presentation with a special focus on curriculum setting and discussion.

14:45 – 15:30Navtej K Purewal, Convenor of the online MSc International Development at SOAS – presentation with a special focus on Online/Hybrid Masters in Development Studies.

15:45 – 16:15:   World Café (1/2), ), exchange and selection of topics

11:30 – 12:15:  Francisco Anacleto Louçã, Convenor of the PhD Program in Development Studies at ISEG (Lisbon University) - presentation with a focus on PhD programs

12:15 – 13:00:  Detlef Müller-Mahn, presentation of the MSc programme in geography with focus on globalisation and development, Institute of Geography (University of Bonn)
