In particular, the programme will impart to you cutting-edge methods, applications and models found in economics, corporate finance and the analysis of international financial markets. Through experiments in game theory, behavioural economics analysis and empirical market analysis, you will develop and learn to employ a sophisticated research methodology. The multidisciplinary curriculum investigates not only law and economic issues, but also incorporates important macroeconomic and social issues as well. Among other things, you will examine how conflicting viewpoints and actions can negatively affect competition as well as the financial and goods markets, illustrating both the importance and usefulness of value-orientated, ethical behaviour in business. This multifaceted approach will enable you to effectively examine and evaluate economic issues in financial and competitive markets in both national and international contexts.
The degree programme is taught in English. Over the course of your studies, you will hone your proficiency to near-native levels while becoming fluent in the advanced terminology and nomenclature of the highest economic and fiscal circles at the international level. Postgraduate Programme of the German Development Institute
The main focus of the training is an empirical and counselling-orientated research project in a developing or emerging country within a Research Team (RT). The projects are prepared and organised in three teams under the instruction and direction of scientists from the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE).

The Postgraduate Programme of the German Development Institute starts every year at the 1st of September and covers a period of nine months. The first eleven weeks of the Postgraduate Programme take place in Bonn. The seminar topics range from specific development issues and global challenges up to methodological workshops for professional writing and improving your communicative and soft skills. The Institute relies on classical teaching and self-study but also group working and simulation games.The main focus of the training is an empirical and counselling-orientated research project in a developing or emerging country within a Research Team (RT). In the early stages of this degree programme, you’ll acquire thorough knowledge of national fiscal law, particularly in the fields of income tax laws, procedural law and commercial taxation. In later stages, your knowledge base will expand to advanced topics in international taxation and law, for example bilateral agreements and supranational law, which are critically examined and discussed with respect to their supporting legal framework. Graduates are able to identify and evaluate sophisticated tax issues both in terms of economics and law, as well as develop appropriate, real-world solution concepts, particularly in the following areas: Transfer pricing, Controlled foreign corporate legislation, Double taxation conventions and International tax planning.
At the same time, the programme is also dedicated to exploring the logical interconnection between business administration, law and general economics. For companies, tax and legislative authorities, international taxation has become an important issue with far-reaching implications. Vocational Training: Office Communication Managers (Kaufleute für Büromanagement)

Since 2003, the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) has trained young people to become Office Communication Managers (Kaufleute für Büromanagement). The tasks of the Service Facilities at our research institute are manifold. During the three years of training, our apprentices learn to use modern communication technology as well as general word processing. Furthermore, they get to know secretarial responsibilities, financial accounting, human resource management and the internal travel department. In addition, they learn about other general administrative tasks. After having completed their training at DIE, our apprentices are able to work in any private enterprise or business, public administration, association or with our employers.
