Master of Arts in European Politics, Economics and Law (Full-Time)
The course is taught on a seminar basis and is intended to further deepen students' knowledge of European politics, law and economics so that by the end of the course they can rightly claim to be ‘specialised generalists’ i.e. graduates with a broad knowledge of the EU but with a deeper specialised understanding in particular areas. The aim is to encourage students to develop their analytical and critical skills – something which is aided by the way the seminars are structured.

European Politics and Economy (PEE)
The Master degree also provides students with a research-active teaching environment which gives them a good grounding in the study of Social Science in general and International Political Economy in particular. Additionally, it offers a critical perspective of the interplay between structures and actors in the global economy, political systems and processes, individuals and the institutions of civil society. These acquired skills can also be applied through the involvement of students in the activities developed within the Centre for European Studies, which is an integrated part of the National University.
This program is addressed to university graduates under Bologna system (3 years) or to those who graduated from long term university study programs (4 years).

The Master Program of European Politics and Economy proposes an integrated view over the European continent. It addresses to people who wish to develop a career that will interlink politics with economy. Within the nowadays society that is deals with both the benefits and risks and vulnerabilities that is exposed to due to the globalization phenomenon, the national and international political levels were always influenced by the economic development and vice versa. The Master Program proposes an interdisciplinary approach bringing together several areas of study regarding current society: economics, political science and international relations and European studies. In this sense, this Program allows its students to further develop their intellectual and practical skills with respect to the interaction of politics and economics in the increasingly global economy.The Master degree also provides students with a research-active teaching environment which gives them a good grounding in the study of Social Science in general and International Political Economy in particular. Doctoral Research at the University of Malta - European Studies and Islands and Small States Studies
Research-based doctoral studies at UM provide students with the opportunity to pursue substantial independent research on their own under the guidance of their supervisors, who are experts in their field of research. Successful doctoral theses must, among other things, display evidence of substantial and original research, lucid and scholarly presentation, and a sound knowledge of the general field within which the thesis falls.
Applicants who wish to pursue doctoral research at the University of Malta will normally have completed a second cycle Master’s degree programme.
