Having recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, this is one of the longest running degrees on gender and development. You’ll gain a solid understanding of debates in feminist thinking, and link them to gendered policy and programming. Diploma in Gozo Studies (Part-Time Evening)
A variety of teaching methods will be utilized during the course programme, including lectures, field-visits, seminars and home assignments. The course will therefore provide students with both classroom instruction and other learning experiences, and will link past and present realities in Gozo with various academic disciplines.
The course will be conducted by lecturers of different academic backgrounds, and this will enable the students to look at the subject matter from an interdisciplinary perspective. The course will provide students with:
• A sound knowledge of past and present realities in Gozo relating to the economy, the culture and the physical environment of the island.
• An understanding of policy implications relating to economic, social and environmental concerns.
• An understanding of the history of Gozo.
• An appreciation of the culture of Gozo from various angles, including the way of life, the arts, music and crafts.
• An understanding of the special constraints and opportunities faced by small islands.
• An introduction to theoretical analysis associated with the various disciplines involved in the course, including economics, management, sociology, anthropology, history, and environmental science.

The course will cover 60 ECTS. It will have three modules, namely: (i) Economics and Environmental Studies (ii) History and (ii) Culture. Each module will consist of 5 study units (4 ECTS each).A variety of teaching methods will be utilized during the course programme, including lectures, field-visits, seminars and home assignments. The course work is followed by three years of dissertation research and writing, ending with a completed PhD thesis. At the end of the programme, the doctoral degree is awarded by Maastricht University upon successful defence of the thesis.
