Faculty of Society and Economics, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences International interdependence of economics as well as interaction of regional economical systems has led to a sharp increase of multinational operating companies and organisations. This development is considered in this course of study. The structure of the course follows a logical sequence of economics, politics, law, and social sciences. Special emphasis is placed on international aspects of these disciplines. Here a special focus is placed on the interdisciplinary link between economics and relevant aspects within the realm of social science.
This combination offers graduates the opportunity to not only analyse and assess scientific issues from an economical point of view, but also ethical, moral and social ones as well. The course of study is taught in English in order to better prepare for the requirements of a competitive international job market. Economic questions are assessed in application-oriented ways, and examined with regard to the greater picture, i.e. the economy as a whole. To further bolster graduates’ qualifications, the curriculum of our International Business and Social Sciences programme is defined by a strong interdisciplinary focus that permeates our modules from the first semester onwards.
Continual use of experimental economic research enables students to master application-oriented analysis of real-life decision making situations under controlled laboratory conditions. This, in turn, promotes the development of a profound understanding of the complex interactions in economics.
Graduates of the undergraduate degree programme possess sound knowledge of basic concepts and methods of economics and are knowledgeable about the requirements of economically and socially responsible behaviour. Their qualifications make them ideal candidates for the international job market or for postgraduate studies.
