About EADI
EADI - the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes – is the leading professional network for development and regional studies in Europe. Our membership includes a wide range of development research and training organisations, think tanks, national bodies and researchers throughout Europe.
EADI pursues the following objectives:
- to promote quality in research and education in development studies,
- to promote contacts among affiliated members, inter alias, by disseminating information on research in progress or on studies and experiments in training and on new training schemes.
- to establish or facilitate exchanges, working relations and useful cooperation between the affiliates on the one hand and the regional associations, institutions of research and/or training and individual researchers in African, Asian and Latin American countries on the other.
- to cooperate with governments, development agencies, and international organisations, in development training and research activities.
- to communicate and disseminate research and training results on development to government and private development agencies, international organisations, as well as to policy-makers and the mass media.
- EADI receives core funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ) and the Land North Rhine-Westphalia / Federal City of Bonn.
- EADI is hosted by three institutions: German Development Institute, Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungsforschung (DIE), Capacity Building International, InWEnt, and the Centre for Development Research, ZEF.

What does EADI offer?
EADI’s activities can be assigned to the following work areas:
Knowledge brokering
Our aim is to bring people involved in development research and international co-operation together to facilitate dialogue, build links, identify needs, and share ideas and information.
· EADI General conferences, seminars and workshops, EADI directors’ meetings, Bonner Impulse, EADI newsletter/ e-newsletter, EADI website, EDC2010 programme
Research services
Our aim is to promote development research and information sharing.
· EADI Programmes, EADI working groups, academic publications (European Journal of Development Research and EADI Book Series), EADIportal, directory of development research and training organisations, EL@ND (The virtual European development library), EADI prize for development studies
Training
Our aim is to establish links, share information and foster co-operation in training and education in development throughout Europe.

Quality and standard setting in Europe
Our aim is to promote quality standards within European development research and education.
· EADI task groups on accreditation and on journal ranking.
International co-operation
Our aim is to foster links of the European development research community with research organizations and networks at the international level.
· EADI is a member of: Inter-regional Coordinating Committee of Development Associations (ICCDA), International Social Science Council (ISSC), Society for International Development (SID) and Europe‘s Forum on International Co-operation (EUFORIC), OneWorld, EADI is accredited by the Council of Europe as an INGO.
