EADI Programmes

EADI's programmes are grouped into theme-based programmes (working groups) and cross-cutting programmes. EADI programmes connect and faciliate working relationships between development research institutes in Europe. The programmes are formally reviewed and adjusted by the EADI Executive Committee. The Executive Commitee 2008-2011 is composed of sub-committees which deal with the following themes: Knowledge Management & Publications, Conferences & Working Groups, Training & Education, European Research & External Relations.

Cross-cutting programmes

  • Planning for the Future and Managing Change in Research Institutes and Think-tanks

Europe contains a wide range of research institutes and think-tanks working on international development: from large to small, from specialist to multi-disciplinary, from research-oriented to policy-oriented, and from fully core-funded to zero-funded. Despite the diversity, however, all face common institutional challenges which are discussed in this workstream.

  • EADI Accreditation Initiative

In the emerging European Area for higher education, the EADI institutes wish, where possible, to influence proactively the options for accreditation and quality assurance as far as Development Studies (DS) is concerned.

  • European Development Cooperation to 2020

This programme brings together the expertise of EADI members on EU development cooperation.

  • ICCDA Regional Working Groups

Objectives of this initiative are to foster inter-regional cooperation in the framework of ICCDA and to facilitate joint projects and research.

  • IKM Emergent Research Programme (2007-2012)

The programme is based on the premise that the development sector has not fully appreciated the strategic importance of knowledge to its work, and that it has not responded effectively to the practical challenges of organising and using information and knowledge within and between organizations at a time of rapid but uneven ‘informational developments.’

  • Journal Ranking

The aim of this initiative to develop EADI as a forum for a journal benchmarking exercise.
