Online social networks and Web 2.0 tools are changing the way people communicate and work. These technologies are creating considerable benefits for organisations. This special EADI Masterclass will deal with the opportunities and challenges for organisations. Places are limited.
Target Group
The workshop is aimed at professionals working in different areas (e.g. education, research managers, knowledge management, information management, communication, public affairs etc.). Typical participants will be working for governmental or non-governmental development agencies, think tanks, umbrella organizations, and consultancy firms.
Lecturer:
Caitlin Bentley - Most recently, Caitlin Bentley has been working as a knowledge officer and social media strategist at a Canadian international cooperation agency. In her career, she has worked with over 20 civil society organizations in several African countries on a range of technology capacity building projects, and specializes in online collaboration research and technology project implementations in developing countries. Caitlin completed a Master in Educational Technology last year, focusing on social computing topics and practical applications of online collaboration tools and strategies.
Workshop Outline
Before the workshop, you will have the opportunity to fill out a short online survey, so that we can tailor the workshop exactly to your needs. Over the course of the two-day workshop, we will bring you up to speed on all of the latest social media technologies and practice, highlight interesting case studies and research to share how others have gained success, and we will put our heads together to experiment with social media tools.

- Continuation of group work
Review, Reflection and Resources
- Brief review of the major themes behind the use of social media in organisational work (i.e. these are tools that respond easily and flexibly to varying needs as they arise, they support lifelong learning, collaboration and communication while simultaneously raising the organisation's profile, and etc.)
- What will you do when you get back to work on Monday?
The language of the workshop is English.
