EADI directors’ meeting 2006

Shaping the future of development research – key issues for the agenda of EADI

Presentations:

EADI is holding its annual directors’ meeting titled “Shaping the future of development research – key issues for the agenda of EADI” in Brighton, UK, on 2-3 November 2006. The meeting will be hosted by Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

The annual EADI directors' meetings has been a much-needed gathering place for the last two years - for not only directors/ heads of development research organisations and think-tanks - but also research funders and others actors involved in development research in Europe, with the intention of stimulating debate and to identify key issues on long term development prospects and challenges. We have been focusing on topics such as the future of development research in Europe, but also on wider issues of research and policy links as well as quality and management issues in research. We have embarked new initiatives such as quality management in development studies and accreditation of institutes.

When we meet in Brighton, we want to further investigate the imminent requirements of the development research and training community and the possibilities to further develop EADI’s role and our members’ potentials to face the new challenges and changes of the international and European development landscape. This year's keynote speech will be delivered by Kemal Dervis and distinguished colleagues will speak on various issues.
